Blu-ray Review: 'National Lampoon's The Legend Of Awesomest Maximus'

Can a pre-Three Stooges Will Sasso truly become awesomest in the realm of medieval parody? We’re looking at the new to Blu-ray comedy “National Lampoon’s The Legend of Awesomest Maximus" from Image Entertainment. They make take our reviews, but they’ll never take our honesty – below!

Title: "National Lampoon’s The Legend of Awesomest Maximus"

The Flick: I’ll admit from the outside this one screams little to no hope, but the actual product within has some surprisingly decent laughs. (And some disgusting ones too!) Sure there are some very forced comedic bits (90210’s Ian Ziering isn’t exactly the master of subtlety here!) and wasted laughs (Rip Torn deserves better!), but led by the fully funny Will Sasso, this "300" meets "Braveheart" from "Revenge of the Nerds" and "Gotcha!" helmer Jeff Kanew has enough cool characters (love Kristanna Loken’s breaking balls wife!) and sassy sidekicks (Tony Cox can do no wrong in my book!) to warrant a watch.
Best Feature: No Extras on this one – come on Kanew!
Best Hidden Gem: Tony Cox shows up and does what he does best!
Worth the Moola: A decent addition to the vast library of mostly forgettable National Lampoon flicks.
