Saving the world is a hard day’s work, so the cast of The Avengers made sure to relax while they were filming the epic comic book superhero team up. The film unites Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) to fight Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and his alien army.
Reunited again for a press conference supporting the film, the cast shared party stories from The Avengers.
“Chris sent us a text and said ‘Avengers assemble at such and such bar’ at nine o’clock on a Saturday night,” Hemsworth revealed. “That was good group effort. We paid for it at work the next couple days. At three in the morning on the dance floor, The Avengers, yeah.”
Downey also outted Ruffalo’s house as party central during filming. “Ruffalo, weren’t you the one throwing the roof parties”” Downey said. “So you were the group instigator.”
Even though Loki was the nemesis, Hiddleston got to join in the partying. “[We played] Dance Dance Revolution at Jeremy [Renner]'s house,” Hiddleston said. Renner plays Hawkeye, an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., the organization that assembled The Avengers.
Hiddleston would get emotional with his adversaries as well, revealed Hemsworth, who also faced off against Loki in Thor. “Tom loves hugs,” Hemsworth said. “I did a film with him, and there were plenty of hugs on that film, group hugs though.”
The Avengers opens Friday, likely with hug-free, dance-less action.
