Fans of Medium were worried about Alison Dubois's coma, and her move from NBC to CBS. Now that she's awoken, they are treated to her new hair. Patricia Arquette had to cut her hair to play the aftermath of brain surgery, and now she's rockin' the styling 'do.

"It was written in the script that I had this brain tumor so when I came back, they said, 'Well, we can get you like 10 wigs and you can get a wig on every day or we can cut your hair,'" Arquette explained. "I was like, 'Uh, let's cut my hair.' I love it. It feels really good. There's something about cutting your hair and starting all over."

Arquette had intended to let her hair grow, but the surprise plot twist gave her a surprising new perspective on hair fashion. "I was planning on growing my hair and I thought the show would get cancelled when my hair got to the same length it started. Like I'm going to go back to looking the way I looked at the pilot except older. But now that I've cut it off, it feels so good. It feels so good, sort of like whatever troubles you've been through in the last year, just cut 'em off and start all over. It's a nice feeling."

The working mom keeps in good shape despite her busy schedule too. "I do a lot of yoga. All different kinds. Sometimes I'll do really slow, more de-stressing yoga and sometimes I'll do really fast [series of] poses."

Diet has never been an issue for her. "I eat pretty well I have to say, except around my period. Should I say that? Salty potato chips and chocolate."

Let that go on record. Patricia Arquette is the first interview in 10 years of journalism that ever told me she was having her period. "Gotta keep it real, my friend," she said.
