The 34-year-old singer made a number of life-changing decisions last year and took a new direction with her music, which has made her feel happier in herself.

She said: "I sort of went through a mid-life crisis last year. I didn't feel alive and so I made a lot of big changes. I left Los Angeles after 14 years there and moved to New York. I left a long-term relationship and went in a different direction from my old bands. This feels like a beautiful finish line, no matter what."

The American band,featuring Julian Casablancas, Nick Valensi, Albert Hammond, Jr., Nikolai Fraiture and Fabrizio Moretti, are set to play the Governors Ball on Randall's Island with OutKast, Jack White and Vampire Weekend in June.

Kasabian's track 'Ezz Ehh' was partly inspired by the horse meat scandal.

The band admitted their single contains lyrical reference - "Horsemeat in the burgers" - to the scandal, which saw beef that was contaminated with horsemeat sold in Britain and Europe.
