Celebrity Fashion Review: 80th Academy Awards
Amy Adams, star of the new movie 'Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day' looked stunning in a dark emerald green strapless number. This was a spectacular piece which showed off how much attention to detail was taken with such accents as the bustier style top section of the dress, the lovely belt and that amazingly slightly gathered train. Gold accessories are still all the rage in Hollywood and Amy played her part perfectly by sporting a tiny purse, dangling earrings and bracelets.
Forest Whitaker and wife Keisha looked like a match made in heaven on the red carpet. Keisha with her Barbie doll figure and Forest with his manly stance. How great is that dress? Elegant yet so simple. Obviously, made to fit her figure perfectly. That light grey color and the amazing bead work evoke classiness at its best. Her simple make-up and glam hair make her the perfect lady to stand by her man. And, what else must a gentleman do but stand by his woman. The crisp double breasted tuxedo complimented what appears to be a somewhat slimmer Forest. We love a man in some snazzy shoes. Manlicious!
Helen Mirren is always the quintessential figure of sophistication. She can do no wrong in our eyes. How she manages to be so vibrant and graceful at the age of 62 is beyond us, but she does it well. She’s such a red carpet darling and whatever she wears always seems to accentuate her womanly figure. The layered pleating on the bodice of this burgundy dress is a work of art which leads to a flowing skirt making Helen glide ever so effortlessly across the stage. It’s clear that this piece would have been yet another strapless number, however, the attached bolero jacket puts a bit of a twist on it which we adore. Bravo Helen!
Javier Bardem has that rugged masculinity which a lot of women find attractive. To boot, he has that amazing Spanish accent. He is one of the men who decided to be a little different this year on the male fashion tip. He didn’t opt for the typical tuxedo, but instead went for a simple black tie, white shirt and a completely closed jacket/blazer. It definitely was taking a chance, but we think he pulled it off with much confidence. Now, who can go against that? Besides, he’s hot!
Saoirse Ronan, one of the stars of the movie "Atonement" is only 13, but she is clearly growing into a lovely young woman. We love the fact that she has allowed her hair to grow since filming the movie and opted to pull it back in a girly ponytail for the awards. The green color of her dress looks beautiful against her pale skin. Her barely there make-up is so age appropriate. To add that touch of girliness, her open toe sandals give her great height which compliments her slimming figure. We think the princess is ready for the ball!
