Previously On 'Lost'...Character Catch Up
Lost returns on February 2! The wait has been long and excruciating - similar to enduring the off-season of your favorite sport. Are you ready? If you're a die hard fan, you've either kept your DVR'ed episodes of last season or purchased the season 5 DVD. You've watched the episodes, and you're ready to seamlessly begin the sixth and final season. While catching up on season five episodes, we found it was amazing how much crucial information we could forget! In case you haven't had the chance to rewatch season five, we have compiled a list of characters and where each one is on the island as the screen faded to white in the finale. (Yes, it was white.)
Aaron: One of the Oceanic 6. We have no idea where he is. Perhaps with his grandmother? He was with Sun in the back of her car 2 episodes prior, now Sun is back on the island.
Alana: In 2007. A new character that was on the Ajira flight. She knows Jacob and is supposedly helping him. She torched his shack. She possess a huge silver-toned chest that contains John's casket and body. Her purpose still isn't clear.
Ben: In 2007. Defers to John, who informed Ben that he would be the one to kill Jacob. When Ben sees Jacob, he questions him like a child begging for his father's approval. He stabs Jacob several times, and pushes him into the fire.Hurley: In 1977. One of the Oceanic 6. As he was being released from prison, he saw Jacob. Jacob was the one who gave him all the details to get back to the island. Currently hanging with Jack, Miles, and Sayid.
Jack: In 1977. One of the Oceanic 6. Leads the charge to detonate the h-bomb per Daniel Faraday's instructions. The bomb will reset time. The plane crash, the island and all that transpired will be as if it never happened.
Jacob: Finally we get to see this elusive and mysterious person! Appears to be omniscient. From the opening sequence in the finale, Jacob appears to have been around since the days of Columbus. The statue, in its totality, was also shown.
Jacob's Appearances to the Oceanic Six:
-Hurley: Jacob gave him a guitar case to take back to the island. Who knows if it actually contains a guitar.
-Jack: Jacob was at the hospital vending machine after an operation Jack performed
-Jin and Sun: Jacob was at their wedding reception.
-Kate: Jacob rescued her as a little girl from a shoplifting incident.
-Sawyer: Jacob was at his parent's funeral. In the opening sequence of the finale, Jacob was seen talking to a man whom we'll called Mystery Guy because his name wasn't mentioned. Mystery Guy indicated that he wanted to kill Jacob, but he needed a "loophole."
-Sayid: Jacob was there when his wife was fatally ran down by a car. He didn't bat an eye or show any concern.
Jin: In 1977. Hanging with Jack, Sayid, Miles, and Hurley.
John: In 2007. On a mission to find and kill Jacob. Has other people on the island following him, including Richard Alpert. Gets a message from Jacob: "They're coming." There're still questions surrounding John's mortality.
Juliet: In 1977. Just as she and Sawyer were about to leave the island, she decided to jump on Kate's bandwagon to stop Jack from blowing it up. Then she decided that maybe detonating the bomb wasn't such a bad idea; it can save her from heartbreak. Juliet suffered a horrific fall. She tried to set off the bomb's core with these last words, "Blow, you son-of-a b****!" (Homage to Jaws?)Miles: In 1977. Hanging with Hurley, Sayid, Jack, and Jin. Suggests that they leave everything alone since they don't have a well-thought out plan.
Kate: In 1977. One of the Oceanic 6. She wants to stop Jack from blowing up the island. She interfered with Sawyer and Juliet's clean getaway on the submarine, wanting them to help her stop Jack.
Sawyer: In 1977. Under protest, he leaves the sub to convince Jack not to blow up the island. Last seen in an anguished effort to save Juliet.
Sun: In 2007. One of the Oceanic 6. Looking for Jin. With Richard, Ben and Lapidus, the Ajira pilot. Sees Ben's body, and questions who the other guy is.
There are so many people with so many twists and turns. There are more angles and intersecting paths in their lives than a high school geometry book. Hmmm, who is the “other” John? After Ben stabbed Jacob, Jacob said, “So you found your loophole.” Could this really be Mystery Guy? So many twists and turns—there are more angles and intersecting paths in these characters’ lives than a high school geometry book. Also, Claire will be returning. Where was she anyway? She and Jack still don't know that they are half brother and sister. Will Sun and Jin reconnect? What's really up with Jacob? Will Charles Widmore get his come-uppance? "Lost" fans can't wait to find out the answers. Love the characters or hate them, we can't wait to see them. Let's hope that they all make it to the end of the series and get what they deserve, be it just desserts or destiny.
