No One Can Be Happy On 'House'

HouseIf you weren't spoiled for this week's episode of "House," the ending might have been a shock. Jennifer Morrison announced months ago that she would be leaving the show, and so when the Chase-as-a-murderer storyline came around, most spoiled fans knew this would be the way Cameron was ushered off the show. It's a real shame too, but more on that later. House reminds us that he can be a spoiled, insensitive pig since he's been moderately sane the past few weeks, and the old team comes back. Ugh.

The patient of the week is a porn star, but House is surprisingly less inclined to make jokes about it. In fact he hasn't really been dealing with patients at all lately, has he? He's more distracted by the fact that Cameron and Chase come in and announce they are quitting. Foreman does manage to persuade them to stay just until House gets replacements, otherwise poor Foreman is doing all of the work alone. House decides he needs to get back Thirteen and Taub, and possibly break up Chase and Cameron so he can keep one of them as well. Yes, you read that last part right. He was fairly supportive (for House) of them last season building up to their marriage, but now that he's 'cured' and in touch with his emotions, he tries to manipulate them into trouble. Yeah, it makes no sense.

The porn guy is married to a porn girl, and they both seem fairly happy in their marriage. Cameron has decided to play prude this episode, even though we remember a time when she shrugged off threesomes and had random sex with Chase while high. She snarks at the married couple, and Chase stands by his woman to get all judgmental too. No one can figure out why the porn guy just fell over, and now his organs are failing. Of course they are. The worst part is when they open up his liver to find worms crawling inside. That will be my nightmare for the next week, thank you "House."

Wilson sulks at Cuddy for not dating House, or rather he just wishes she told him about Lucas so he didn't encourage his friend. That last part is a little less pushy and unprofessional. Cuddy states she's tired of worrying about him or House, and she's doing things for her now. This is somewhat of a lie since she worries about it with Lucas, and they actually have a cute moment. It feels weird, but Cuddy does seem happy with him. Thirteen and Taub are trying to be happy in their normal life, but House keeps plaguing them with the case and telling them to come back. It works, naturally, and they are the ones to come up with the diagnosis. He was protected too much as a child and he got an autoimmune disorder because of it: extra intestinal Crohn's disease. When they took out the worms, he got worse; the worms were helping him. Ew. Does he need to put the worms back in?

Chase decides he wants to stay because ... because ... I have no idea. House tells him Cameron only forgave the killing because she believes it is all House's fault. This makes Chase point out, rightly, it was only him who did it and he'd do it again. Ouch. Cameron forgets that she used to be a very forgiving and accepting person, one who euthanized a patient in the past, and leaves Chase. Then she tells House she was in love with him once, and with Chase until House tainted him and turned him into a murderer. She calls him out on being awful, which he was this episode, and then storms off the show.

It feels like this was all a plot device, that the character of Cameron who used to be on the show was altered to be this Cameron. Still, Morrison needed to leave the show and there was no way to keep Chase on it unless they were split up. No one can be happy on "House." Not even me, since now Thirteen is back and she'll probably seduce Chase next. Oh heck, I hope I'm not giving the writers ideas.

"House" is on FOX Monday nights at 8 PM EST.
