'Medium' Is Back On CBS
The episode starts out with Joe having a nightmare rather than his psychic wife. He imagines pulling the plug on her while she's in a coma. Instead they reveal that Allison was in a coma for three months and has been awake for a few weeks. Her right side does not work well, she hasn't had any psychic dreams, and they're in some financial strains due to the medical bills. Plus neither she nor Joe have jobs now. Great. The girls bicker as usual and Joe takes care of everything, encouraging Allison to rest.
She's not really the type to just hang out, though, and secretly visits the DA's office to talk to Devalos. They welcome her with open arms and he warmly invites her back to work. She may not be a medium anymore, but she was originally hired as a paralegal so she can come back. It's such a loving and jolly moment, especially when Scanlon shows up and hugs Allison too. Aw, they love her so much. She's invited to sit in on a new case. A man is accusing another man of stalking his semi-famous wife, Sophie. They have videos of the guy in question, Peter, following her around with a video camera.

Like clock work, Allison feels bad that she didn't get the vision sooner to warn her about Peter. Everyone reassures her that she has had enough trouble lately, so to just chill already. That is until Allison has another vision with Sophie purposely sleeping with Peter, killing her husband, and then stabbing herself so it would look like an attack. Whoa! That was a twist, and a lot darker than I might have expected from CBS. I was concerned the channel might lighten up "Medium," but instead it's completely embraced the dark gray zones the show is best at.
Peter taping everything is what helps them solve the case in the end, and now Allison is slowly starting to heal in all ways. Her powers are back, if a little unstable, and she's even able to eat with her right hand for the first time. Nice try, NBC, but Allison Dubois is back and going to rock Friday nights on CBS. Well. If anyone actually bothers to watch it on Friday. This was a great premiere and neatly wrapped up last year's ending while putting the Dubois' on the right path. Joe might get a new job, the kids are growing up well, and Allison is where she belongs. Murderers beware!
"Medium" is on CBS Friday nights at 9 PM EST.
