Here's a look into the new mutants in "Origins," starting with who they were in the comics and then who they may be in the movie. Beware though, there may be spoilers ahead for non-comic readers!
X-Men Origins: Wolverine Trailer
SILVER FOX
In the comics: Silver Fox is a lover of Wolverine's who is murdered on his birthday by Sabretooth. She appeared later on as very much alive and part of a covert CIA group, although she defects to the terrorist group Hydra. Logan starts doubting his happy memories of her, since some of his memories were apparently created by Weapon X, but after her second death by Sabretooth (seriously) they find proof their happy time together was real. She has not been resurrected since. Her powers included some healing factor like Logan.
In the movie: Named "Kayla Silver Fox" and played by Lynn Collins (not exactly Native American, is she?), the character seems to follow much of the same history. She is Logan's lover, and he does appear to scream over her body in the trailer so it seems likely she may be a victim in this as well.
GAMBIT
In the comics: One of the fan favorite characters in the X-Men comics, Remy LeBeau AKA Gambit first appeared in 1990. He is a Louisiana-born Cajun thief with a silver tongue and an eye for the ladies. He's gotten several mini-series of his own, and one of the major parts of his character arc involves redemption. Years ago Gambit worked for a villain named Sinister and was involved in a violent massacre of innocent mutants. He harmed no one, but he led the murderers there and blamed himself. He fought with the X-Men partly to make up with that, and partly because of his long-term love affair with teammate Rogue. She is the woman who can never be touched, and he is the playboy who only cares about touch, but together they make up one of the most long lasting and angsty relationships in the Marvel Universe. It remains a primary story for both characters even today. He kinetically charges up objects and causes them to explode.
In the movie: Played by Friday Night Lights star Taylor Kitsch, this will be the first appearance of Gambit in the movies although fans had been teased many times before he would show up. From the trailer and information on the page, it looks like Gambit will be fighting Wolverine at one point, although it may be that he is an ally as well. It's pretty customary in comics for someone to seem an enemy and then become your best friend. Despite his worst nature, Gambit often turns up on the side of the angels.
