A fourth instalment of the Riddick franchise is in the works, according to actor Vin Diesel.
The Fast and Furious star revealed the news to fans in a video posted to Facebook.com on Tuesday (28Jan14), after receiving a call from movie studio executives informing him the Riddick DVD is number one on the sales charts.
He says, "There's no way Riddick would have been made without you guys...
''It's a win for all of us and I really, really thank you so much. Yeah, I'm excited, and of course, Universal also says they want to develop the next one.''
Diesel first portrayed the warrior alien on the big screen in 2000's Pitch Black. He followed up the film with 2004's The Chronicles of Riddick and then had to personally finance 2013's Riddick.
He also played the character in 2000 TV movie The Chronicles of Riddick: Into Pitch Black and voiced him in several video games.
