Concert promoters at AEG Live have challenged Michael Jackson's mother's request for a new trial in her wrongful death lawsuit, insisting her demands are making a mockery of America's legal system.

Katherine Jackson's first attempt to prove the promoters were to blame for her son's death in 2009 ended in failure in October (13), when a jury ruled in favour of AEG after a lengthy trial.

She filed an appeal against the verdict in a Los Angeles court in November (13) and called for a new trial earlier this month (Dec13), claiming jury misconduct and general procedural errors, including confusion over jury instructions, tainted the trial.

However, AEG bosses are adamant the Jackson family matriarch's latest efforts have been made in an act of desperation and they are urging a judge to dismiss the case once and for all, reports TMZ.com.

Katherine still maintains AEG bosses negligently hired Dr. Conrad Murray to care for her son as he prepared for his This Is It concerts in London.

Murray was ultimately convicted of killing the singer with a fatal dose of Propofol, and was released from prison last month (Nov13) after serving two years behind bars.

A decision on the appeal will made in court on 3 January (14).
