Casey Affleck saved TV repairman's life
Actor Casey Affleck saved a TV repairman's life last year (12) after the technician slipped and almost fell from the roof of his house.
The Gone Baby Gone star reveals he feared the man would die on his doorstep so he rushed out to lend a hand and helped to steady the ladder, but the repairman was in such shock, he didn't even acknowledge how close he came to death and simply continued with his job.
Affleck recalls the story to U.S. talk show host Jay Leno, "My satellite is on the roof and the roof is three stories up. He goes and gets his ladder and I watch him put his ladder up and it barely makes it to the edge of the roof... So I was in the kitchen and then I heard this loud crash and I thought, 'What is that?' I walk out there and I hear this man saying, 'Help, help me,' and it's like a movie - he's dangling from his fingertips from the top and he's a big guy and he's not able to pull himself back up...
"I get the ladder up... and he puts his foot on it and I thought it was going to collapse again and it didn't... My heart was racing... Finally he comes down and he says, 'So the satellite was facing a little bit to the west,' and I'm staring at him like, 'Dude, I just saved your life!' I could see it hadn't settled in and he keeps talking about the satellite. He's like, 'I didn't have the right tool, I'm going to go to my truck and get the tool and go back up,' and I was like, 'You're not going back up...' and then finally it registered to (sic) him, he had blood coming out of his pants, he cut his leg and he starts shaking and I'm like, 'You got to sit down and relax...!'"
