British actor Daniel Kaluuya has launched legal action against London's police force over allegations he was assaulted by officers and falsely imprisoned.

Kaluuya, who has starred in Skins and Kick-Ass 2, claims he was singled out by Metropolitan Police officers because he is black when he was removed from a bus in Camden in 2011.

He was arrested on suspicion of being a drug dealer, but subsequently walked free due to a lack of evidence.

The 24 year old is now suing for $75,000 (£50,000) for "loss of liberty, personal injury, damage and humiliation". In the suit he claims officers pinned him down and placed a boot on his head while he was kicked. Kaluuya also alleges he was not read his rights and had to receive treatment from his doctor for bruising after the arrest.

A Met Police spokesman says, "We can confirm we have received a claim and legal proceedings are progressing."
