Steven Spielberg Honors George Clooney For Humanitarian Efforts
Steven Spielberg honoured George Clooney for his humanitarian efforts at a gala in New York on Thursday.
The two men attended a fundraising event at the American Museum of Natural History and the filmmaker presented the star with the Ambassador for Humanity Award.
He said, "George is the best kind of humanitarian. The humble humanitarian, an unparalleled example of action over apathy."
After accepting the award, Clooney said, "Our job is to make it hard for the bad guys to do what they're doing, and for the good guys to ignore it.
"We have to be able to keep a record of what the powerful can do to the powerless."
The gala marked the 20th anniversary of Spielberg's Oscar-winning movie Schindler's List, a film that inspired him to record interviews with Holocaust survivors for posterity.
Clooney has become a champion of Sudanese refugees trying to escape the warfare in the African nation.
