Music mogul Simon Cowell has adopted a new outlook on life after learning he is to become a first-time father, insisting the baby news has pulled him out of a workaholic "fog".
The X Factor boss is expecting a child with his girlfriend, New York socialite Lauren Silverman, early next year (14) and the famous bachelor admits he already feels like a changed man.
He tells People magazine, "I'm the happiest now than I have been for a long time... I love her and I love the fact that I'm having this baby...
"In a weird way, (this baby) got me out of this fog I was in. You have so much on your mind and can get overloaded. Then you think of the baby, and think, 'OK, now I have this responsibility'. It changed my outlook in a positive way."
Cowell previously confessed he never would have imagined himself becoming a dad, but the surprise has been a welcome one and he's proud to be known for something other than his TV and music empire: "If I dropped dead and the only thing I had were my shows, it would be quite pathetic. It sounds corny, but you have to have a legacy in life."
However, Cowell has no plans to cut down on his heavy workload once the baby arrives around February (14) and reveals he will be taking Silverman and their tot wherever his job takes him.
He says, "The idea of being in the same place every day bores me to tears... I have a job where I can travel, and fortunately can accommodate (Silverman and the baby) travelling with me. Every week is different from the last, and I prefer that way of living. It can all work together. You don't have to over-complicate anything."
