Biz Markie promotes diet soda brand after dramatic weight loss
Rapper Biz Markie has become a spokesperson for sugar-free soda company Zevia after losing 140 pounds (63.5 kilograms) with the help of the beverages.
The Just a Friend hitmaker tipped the scales at 385 pounds (174.6 kilograms) but decided to change his lifestyle after doctors told him he had high blood pressure and was borderline diabetic.
He explains, "I just kept eating. I'd eat, eat, eat, not exercise, go to sleep, eat and eat. I looked up in the mirror and said I had to make a change if I was going to continue to live."
Biz Markie, real name Marcel Theo Hall, began cutting sugar out of diet and switched to the Zevia brand.
Hall admits he still indulges in his favourite foods, but the drinks have helped him keep his weight under control.
He says, "Don't get it twisted, I still cheat; I just cheat less."
