The director of Clint Eastwood's films Magnum Force and Hang 'em High has died, aged 95.

Ted Post, who also directed episodes of Eastwood's TV western Rawhide, as well as Gunsmoke and primetime soap Peyton Place, passed away on Tuesday (20Aug13) at UCLA Medical Center in Santa Monica, California.

Post's director credits also include the films Beneath the Planet of the Apes, Go Tell the Spartans and Nightkill.

The director fell out with Eastwood while making Magnum Force in the early 1970s when the actor made "editorial changes" without consulting Post, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The filmmaker's last project was 1999 movie 4 Faces.
