E.T. The Extra Terrestrial tops nostalgic British film poll
Steven Spielberg's beloved E.T. The Extra Terrestrial has topped a new British film poll to find the best childhood film of all-time.
The heartwarming 1982 film beat out Disney classics Bambi and The Lion King and animated hit Toy Story to take the top spot in the Samsung survey.
The Goonies, which was co-written by Spielberg, also made the list, while the filmmaker was named Britain's favourite director in the poll.
Acclaimed 1994 movie The Shawshank Redemption was voted the film that viewers would most like to watch again and again, while Clark Gable's immortal Gone With the Wind line "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn" was picked as the public's favourite movie quote.
