Randy Travis' famous friends and fans including Jake Owen, Kristin Chenoweth and Martina Mcbride have reached out to the country star after he suffered a stroke on Wednesday.
The music veteran has been under the care of doctors since Sunday when he was admitted to a hospital in Texas to treat congestive heart failure and a heart condition he developed after battling a viral respiratory illness last month (Jun13).
Medics released a statement on Wednesday revealing the singer was making good progress, but just hours later Travis suffered a stroke.
The setback has left the star in a critical condition, and a number of celebrities have expressed their sadness and disbelief in light of the tragic news.
Country singer Jake Owen writes in a post on Twitter.com, "Before I lay my head down tonight I'm saying a prayer for Randy Travis. One of the greatest singers to ever grace our ears. Amen," while actress/singer Kristin Chenoweth adds, "I've been praying for Randy Travis."
Martina McBride also revealed she was "praying for Randy Travis..." and Chely Wright admitted she was devastated by the news: "Randy Travis has suffered a stroke, it seems. I have many good friends who are close to him. They adore him. Thinking of all."
Brad Paisley declared, "We're all pulling for you Randy."
The news also prompted a response from country songwriter Buffy Lawson, who revealed Travis recently recorded one of her songs.
In an emotional post on Facebook.com, she writes, "I was blessed beyond words that I was a writer on a song that Randy Travis recorded recently. The song is a prayer. I have been told by many people that Randy drove around in his car for months listening to the song... The knowledge of his condition is so incredibly heavy on my heart and I feel deeply connected to him right now. Sending love, comfort and peace during such a scary time. Peace and speedy recovery."
