Mick Jagger opens up about fantastic Glastonbury
Mick Jagger has opened up about his "fantastic" experience at this year's (13) Glastonbury festival, revealing he camped overnight, watched other bands, and partied with his family at the iconic music event.
Jagger performed a landmark set with The Rolling Stones at the event in Somerset, England on Saturday night (29Jun13) and the gig marked his first ever trip to the festival.
The singer admits his grown-up children are regular revellers at Glastonbury, and they mocked their father for not having attended before.
However, Jagger insists he made up for lost time this year (13) by partying with his family, enjoying the line-up and even embracing the festival spirit by sleeping outdoors in a yurt tent.
Speaking to Pete Mitchell of Britain's Absolute Radio, the official radio partner for the band's upcoming gigs at the Barclaycard Presents British Summer Time Hyde Park event, Jagger says, "I loved it, it was a fantastic weekend and my kids were there and they go every year and they always have their stories, so it was nice hanging out with them because it was like a family event. I'm talking about before our show... I did see the Arctic Monkeys... I went camping for a bit... I did sleep overnight..."
He adds, "I mean our intention was to do the best show we could and my other intention was to have as much fun with my kids as possible because they always have their Glastonbury stories and they've been going there for like forever. So (they say) "Nine Glastonburys dad, you haven't been (once)" and... I mean I could have gone in the '70s when it was a CND (Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament) event... It was a mad event then."
Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis hailed the band as the festival's best ever headliners, and Jagger admits he was thrilled by his comments: "It's very nice of him to say that, I'm very pleased."
