Randy Travis pays tribute to George Jones with emotional song
Country star Randy Travis has paid tribute to late singer George Jones in an emotional new song.
The musician teamed up with fellow country artist Joe Nichols to record the heartfelt track, entitled Tonight I'm Playin' Possum, in reference to Jones' nickname.
Speaking about the collaboration, Travis says, "It was an honour when I received a request to record this tribute to George Jones, and after I heard how well (country star) Keith Gattis had written Tonight I'm Playin' Possum, I was excited to record it. Thanks to Joe Nichols for coming in and helping on this project."
Travis received a standing ovation from the crowd when he debuted the song last Friday (07Jun13) at the CMA Music Festival in Nashville, Tennessee.
Jones passed away on 26 April (13) at the age of 81.
