Jean Stapleton's first theatre to be renovated in her honour
A Pennsylvania theatre where Jean Stapleton first trod the boards is set for a makeover in her memory.
The All In The Family star passed away last month (May13) at the age of 90, and on Wednesday (05Jun13) the lights on Broadway were dimmed in her honour.
Now bosses at the Totem Pole Playhouse, where Stapleton got her break in the 1950s, have announced a renovation project, despite putting the $5,000 (£3,225) overhaul on hold last year (12).
Stapleton met her husband William Putch at the playhouse when he landed the role of director in 1953, and they went on to work on more than 300 productions together.
The relaunch will include a facelift for the clubhouse and will feature photos and proclamations in tribute to the Emmy-award winning star.
