British actor and comedian Stephen Fry has assured fans he is "fine" after opening up about a suicide attempt last year (12) in a recent online interview.
The Gosford Park star revealed all about his personal crisis in Richard Herring's Leicester Square Podcast earlier this week (beg03Jun13), confessing he tried to take his life by downing pills and alcohol while working abroad.
Fans flocked to Twitter.com to express their concern, prompting Fry to assure them all he is now OK and admits he felt it was his duty to speak candidly about his depression as the president of the U.K. mental health charity Mind.
He writes, "Thank you all for your concern. As Pres of @mindcharity I could only tell truth if asked directly (sic). Now fine. On good meds (medication). Love to you all."
The 55 year old opened up about his suicide bid after a producer's 12-year-old son asked, "What's it like being Stephen Fry?"
