Henry Rollins salutes Will Smith on 10th anniversary of Bad Boys II
Will Smith has an unlikely fan in punk icon Henry Rollins after the two worked together on Bad Boys Ii a decade ago.
As the 10th anniversary of the release of the hit sequel approaches later this summer (13), Rollins, who had a small part as a Tactical Narcotics Team leader, still has fond memories of working with Smith on set, revealing the movie star made a point of getting to know every co-star and crew member.
Rollins tells WENN, "He's a very nice man. I met him every day on the set of Bad Boys II... I really admired how he carried himself as the lead dude on the set."
And the devoted bodybuilder was very impressed with Smith's on-set gym: "He had this incredible trailer. You couldn't drive it, it had to be towed and I was like, 'What is that?'
"There was a full gym with a trainer sitting in it and I was like, 'He uses it when? Like, this is so much c**p.' And they're (assistants) like, 'When you're eating lunch, he's gonna be up there working out...' and he was - and ripping it too. I couldn't watch.
"He'd just come off Ali and he wanted to keep his shape from Ali. He impressed me - on time, polite, didn't drop takes and just nailed it. He's that guy. I've seen a few principles maybe not act in such a gracious manner towards the other actors and the crew and the extras."
Rollins reveals Dolph Lundgren made it clear he wasn't planning on being pleasant to anyone when he teamed up with the former Black Flag frontman and Keanu Reeves on 1995's Johnny Mnemonic.
He explains, "That was one unpleasant acting experience. I'm a polite person and I'm like, 'Hey Dolph, I'm Henry, we're working together,' and he's like, 'Yeah...?' and I was like, 'OK, I'll just go back to my trailer.'
"Keanu Reeves was really nice, but Dolph not so much. I saw him six months later when we were doing promotion for the movie and I thought, 'Maybe he'll be friendlier,' but he hadn't thawed out yet."
