America Ferrera

Actress America Ferrera will graduate from university on Friday (17May13), ten years after she initially enrolled.

The Ugly Betty star started studying at the University of Southern California (USC) in 2002 but put her education on hold and took a leave of absence when she won the title role in the hit U.S. comedy drama.

The show ended in 2010, allowing the actress to devote her time to other projects, one of which was her burning ambition to finish her bachelor's degree in International Relations.

Ferrera took to her Twitter.com page on Tuesday (14May13) to share the happy news with fans, writing, "I'm walking in my college graduation in 3 days from (University of Southern California)! It's finally happening! Took me 10 years, but it feels great."

The actress will receive her degree from USC Dornsife, the Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences.
