Funnyman Bill Hader is bowing out of iconic U.S. sketch show Saturday Night Live after eight years.
The Superbad star joined the SNL cast in 2005 after he was discovered by Will & Grace actress Megan Mullally, but has confirmed he will walk away from the show after the season finale on Saturday (18May13).
He tells the New York Times, "It was a hard decision, but it has to happen at some point. It got to a point where I said, 'Maybe it's just time to go.'"
Hader isn't the first SNL comic to announce plans to leave - Seth Meyers will end his run on the show in early 2014 when he takes Jimmy Fallon's spot as host of America's Late Night series.
