Recap: 'Married to Jonas' - Season One, Episode Five

9/20/2012 10:55am EDT
Kevin and Dani
This week’s episode of “Married to Jonas” can pretty much be summed up in one sentence: “You might THINK you want to be married to a Jonas, but you don’t!”

But, as usual, I get ahead of myself.

The episode begins with all the Jonas family in Los Angeles to watch Papa Jonas get the “Father of the Year” award from the American Diabetes Association. We learn that Nick is a diabetic and that the Jonases are very big into the cause. We also find out that everyone thinks Kevin senior is the best dad ever and both Nick and Kevin want to be like him (Joe and Frankie are conspicuously silent on...

Kevin and Danielle Jonas
This week’s episode of “Married to Jonas” is the episode when the cute little show about a young, famous, married couple became a true reality show. I’m not sure anything that happened on this episode could be considered REAL but it was perfect for reality television.

The opening was predictably adorable. Kevin and Dani waiting in line to get frozen yogurt just like everyone else and then getting recognized. Kevin was great with the fans and posed for pictures and joked around and then he and his wife got escorted to the front of the line. Proving once again that it pays to be married to...

Recap: 'Married to Jonas' - Season One, Episode Three

Danielle Jonas and the Jonas Brothers
So I’m not really digging Mama Jonas this week.

Any straight woman will tell you the worst men to date (never mind MARRY) are the men who are either only children or from a family of only boys. Mothers of sons are, well, they’re a special breed and Denise Jonas is their spiritual leader. But more about that later.

This week, Kevin and Dani take a trip from New Jersey to Texas where the Jonas family has a ‘compound’. The idea being that Kevin thinks going to the compound, which looks like a mansion spa retreat, will relax both he and his tightly-wound wife before the Jonas world tour. Fo...

Recap: 'Married to Jonas' - Season One, Episode Two

Married to Jonas Recap
Week two of “Married to Jonas” and all is still adorable in New Jersey.

First let’s get the players straight. The families of Kevin and Dani Jonas can get confusing without a scorecard.

Kevin has three brothers, Joe, Nick and little Frankie, and his parents Kevin Sr. and Denise. So far Frankie hasn’t done much but the rest of the family is highly focused on the careers of Kevin, Nick and Joe. This week we don’t have to deal with any of them so let’s focus on the Deleasas.

Dani has two sisters (married, older sister Dina and high school senior, younger sister Katie), a brother named Mik...

Review: 'Married to Jonas'

8/19/2012 12:30pm EDT
Kevin an Danielle Jonas
Kevin Jonas reminds us many times in the premiere episode of “Married to Jonas” that the Jonas Brothers haven’t done anything, not a record, a concert or a TV show, in over three years. Which probably explains my reaction to the news that Kevin Jonas was going to star in a reality show: “Are the Jonas Brothers even together anymore?”

Well yes they are and their fans will get to see their new album and concert tour unfold during this first season of “Married to Jonas”.

But the Jonas Brothers are just a backstory in this show. It seems E! wants the real drama to come from Kevin’s wife Dan...

Five Fun Facts About 'The Dark Knight Rises' Star Christian Bale

The Dark Knight Rises
You’d have to be living under a rock to not be aware that on Friday, July 20th, the final installment in Christopher Nolan’s ‘Batman’ trilogy opens. ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ brings back stars Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon, Michael Caine as Alfred, Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox and Liam Neeson as Ra's Al Ghul as well as adding Joseph Gordon- Levitt as John Blake, Anne Hathaway as Catwoman and Tom Hardy as the villain Bane, but it’s Christian Bale as the Dark Knight that keeps people coming back. This week we look at five fun facts about Bale as his final appearance as the Caped Crusader h...

'True Blood' Recap: 'We'll Meet Again' (Season 5, Episode 4)

Goodbye Creepy Vampire Kid
Last week’s ‘True Blood’ left many of us hoping Pam would ignore her natural instincts as a maker and let Tara fry in the tanning bed, putting her and us out of misery. No such luck.

So what’s up this week?

Pam saved Tara and forbade her ‘as your maker’ from ever trying to kill herself again. You know what that means, right? We’re never getting rid of Tara. Thanks for nothing, Pam. Although, as someone who enjoyed Alcide telling Sookie to ‘shut up’ last week, I have to give Tara props for pretty much single-handedly getting all of Bon Temps on her side. Folks find out you turned your best...

Besides The Cast Of 'Magic Mike', Five Actors We'd Like to See Strip

6/28/2012 2:05pm EDT
'Magic Mike' opens June 29th
On Friday, June 29th, 'Magic Mike' hits theaters. I have no idea if this film will be any good but I do know that there are many worse ways to spend two hours than watching Alex Pettyfer, Channing Tatum and Joe Manganiello strip. A fact that got us at Starpulse to thinking about other male celebrities we’d like to see take it all off for the sake of their art and their wallets.

So it’s been left to me to give you a taste of the men not included in 'Magic Mike' we’d like to see strip in the movies (or, heck, in real life). Here are the top five as chosen by a totally non-scientific poll of...

'True Blood' Recap: "Whatever I Am You Made Me' (Season 5, Episode 3)

6/26/2012 11:20am EDT
Kristin Bauer van Straten
Last week ‘True Blood’ left us with a lot of cliffhangers, most of which didn’t get answered Sunday night. But since I couldn’t care less about Luna’s wolf-baby and Terry and Arlene’s storyline is already getting tired, I’ll just scold HBO for not giving us any Russell and leave it at that.

So what’s up this week?

They didn’t miss a beat to start the show. We saw Tara stalk and attack a stranded motorist and I though, just for a moment that Tara might do something exciting, and instead she apologized to the girl for attacking her and ran off. Pam had an amazing line to end this episode a...

Why You Should Go See 'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter'

6/24/2012 3:55pm EDT
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter
I should preface this by saying if fantasy/action/horror movies involving vampires are really not your thing, nothing I write after this paragraph will make you want to see “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter”. It is 105 minutes of fantasy, action, horror and vampire, no way to get around that. But if you can tolerate those types of films or even, dare I suggest it, LIKE those kind of films yet you’re still balking at plunking down your cash for director Timur Bekmambetov’s adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith’s novel, hopefully I can convince you that it’s worth your money and time.

Usually, if...
