Q&A With Singer Charice Pempengco
Charice's "Note To God" has finally been heard now that the new international Philippine star has released her self-titled debut Charice here in the U.S. With a vocal prowess well beyond her eighteen years, and a little help from entertainment heavy weight supporters David Foster, Oprah Winfrey, and Ellen Degeneres, she is well on her way to being a music industry mainstay. Starpulse recently caught up with the newcomer who gave us some insight on her rising career. Let us know what you think about newcomer Charice, and her music.

Where are you from, and how did you get started in the music business?
Charice: I’m from the Philippines – My mom discovered me singing on the kitchen table when I was 4 years old. I then entered almost 100 singing competitions to help put food on the table. My friend posted my video on youtube and I was discovered by Ellen, Oprah and David Foster.
What was it like working on your new album, and what were the ideas behind it?
Charice: It was amazing as I now have my own songs. The album is a good mixture of top 40 and ballads.
Who produced your album, and what was the production like?
Charice: David Foster oversaw the production but he brought in a lot of young song writer and producer to make it more appelaring to the younger audience.
How did you meet renowned music David Foster, and what has it been like working with him?
Charice: Oprah introduced me to him and asked him to help me. He is now my mentor.
Who were your musical inspirations as you were growing up and why?
Charice: It’s no secret that I grew up singing Celine Dion, Whitney, and Mariah!
You've come a long way since your beginnings; How do you view your new found success?
Charice: I’m very excited! However, I keep my feet on the ground and stay focused and work hard.
Who are some of today's music artists that you are really into?
Charice: Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake.
Have you ever toured, and is there a tour planned in the near future?
Charice: I have toured with David Foster and I hope to tour again with him soon.
Is there anything that you haven't done musically that you would like to try?
Charice: Many things – I’m just beginning…: )

Any last words of inspiration for young people like yourself who may want to enter the music business?
Charice: Yes – never give up – it’s important to remember that in everything you do.
