Tina Fey And Amy Poehler To Host Golden Globes For Two More Years
The awards show saw a 28% increase in ratings with the duo at the helm after they replaced three-time host Ricky Gervais, giving it the most viewers in six years. The Saturday Night Live alumni were given rave reviews as well, with the Los Angeles Times calling them "Lovely, brilliant, and utterly fearless."
Hollywood Foreign Press Association President Theo Kingma said, "It's wonderful news. They have always been our first choice as hosts and we're delighted they are back for the next two years."
NBC exec Paul Telegdy said, "Tina and Amy are two of the most talented comedic writer/performers in our business, and they were a major reason the Golden Globes was the most entertaining awards show of last season. We're elated they wanted to host together again and that they committed for the next two years."
Fey and Poehler were reportedly being considered to host the Oscars after their performance on the Golden Globes, although Fey said "No way" to the job in February. Seth MacFarlane has said he doesn't plan on hosting the awards show again, and now Hollywood's hottest comedienne duo is off the table.
The 71st Golden Globes ceremony will be held January 12, 2014.
