In Iron Man 3, Tony Stark is feeling the effects of fighting off an alien invasion of New York. Following the events of The Avengers, the fellow behind the Iron Man mask is fighting his inner demons. The full-length trailer, released today, offers a peek at the upcoming film.
"You experience things, and then they're over," Robert Downey Jr.'s Stark narrates. "I can't sleep. And when I do, I have nightmares. Honestly, there's 100 people who want to kill me. I hope I can protect the one thing I can't live without." That appears to be Pepper Potts.
Ben Kingsley can finally end his weak attempt at convincing us he's not The Mandarin after we finally see him as the character. "Some people call me a terrorist. I consider myself a teacher. Lesson number one: heroes? There is no such thing," he intones before a pair of helicopters destroys one of Stark's mansions - with him and Potts in it.
Iron Man's various suits appear throughout the trailer, and more than once it seems Starks is not the man inside them.
A final shot, continuing from the opening of the trailer in which Iron Man falls into a blanket of snow, shows Starks dragging his armor behind him with a rope. A hint at the challenges to come for the hero.
