Billy Ray Cyrus Mends His 'Achy Breaky Heart'
The country crooner best known for being Miley’s dad has called off the divorce and decided to work things out with wife of 17 years, Tish. In an interview with the ladies of “The View,” which aired Friday, Mar. 18, Cyrus declared, “I want to put my family back together … Things are the best they've ever been."
Just last October, the Cyrus’ announced plans to end their marriage. This proved to be the first link in a chain of events bringing bad publicity to the family. Only a few short months later, a startling video of pop star and teen idol, Miley Cyrus, smoking the natural herb salvia from a bong hit the internet and went viral.
GQ Magazine interviewed Billy Ray and captured his explosive reaction to all the controversy swirling around his daughter and impending divorce in their March issue. In a shocking turn, Cyrus openly blamed his and daughter Miley’s TV show, “Hannah Montana,” for “destroying his family.”
Cyrus later qualified those statements in his interview on “The View. "I don't think ‘Hannah Montana’ ruined my family...,” he confessed. “Now fame, fame is a different animal. You've got to be careful with that thing." In addition to mending his broken marriage, Billy Ray, who stated, “I feel like we are the daddy and daughter that we were before ‘Hannah Montana’ happened,” is also putting great emphasis on repairing his strained relationship with his daughter adding, “I feel like I got my Miley back in a way.”
Despite, reconciling with his wife and laying the divorce plans to rest, Cyrus still has some challenges ahead. For starters, his slanderous comments thrown in the direction of mega conglomerate Disney’s hit show were likely not well received. Billy Ray is going to have to work hard to get his career back on track.
Without Miley and her famous alter ego Hannah Montana to piggyback on and having already exhausted the career regenerating “Dancing with the Stars” option, Papa Cyrus will have to travel down other money making avenues. Will he attempt a return to his former country music glory? Will he begin to groom Miley’s kid sister, Noah, in preparation for crawling back to Disney with an apology and show pitch for another daddy/daughter one-two combo to fill the gaping hole in wholesome programming created by Miley’s descension into salvia and stripper poles? We’ll all just have to wait and see.
