Formed just over a year ago, Yuck is a quartet, but sometimes a band of five. Daniel and Max are from London. Mariko is from Hiroshima. Jonny is from New Jersey. Daniel's sister Ilana joins in for harmonies and occasional live shows. Since the March 2010 release of their debut single "Georgia," Yuck has been on tour, supporting folks like Teenage Fanclub, Modest Mouse, Smith Westerns and Times New Viking.
The vibe of Yuck's episode is decidedly throwback, with director Michael Reich, editor Forrest Borie and set designer Tamarra Younis mining their deepest inner 90s vibes to transform Room 205 into a quasi-public access TV show, replete with analog television sets, TV test patterns, and the cozy, nostalgic hiss of VHS tape heads.
With a standout live performance of "Milkshake," Yuck delivers a healthy dose of mellow distortion in their second installment of Room 205. Sweet, but definitely not saccharine, the song opens with a cameo appearance from video muse Ariela Marin, best known for her leading roles in the band's official videos for "Rubber" and "Get Away".
