'Mr. Peabody And Sherman': The Best Animated Reboot Ever

March 6th, 2014 8:00pm EST

After willingly watching terrible animated reboot after TERRIBLE animated reboot ('Garfield', 'Smurfs', 'Transformers', 'G.I. Joe 1', 'Alvin and the Chipmunks'), I've finally found a film that understands, respects and updates the primary material without effacing its original wonder and pandering to the lowest common denominator. Pulitzer Prize nominated writer Craig Wright ('Six Feet Under') and Director Rob Minkoff ('Lion King') introduce the punniest, wittiest, and smartest 'Mr. Peabody and Sherman' animated reboot ever.

Growing up, I LOVED sardonic, know-it-all Mr. Peabody and his aca...

'Pompeii' Review: Eye-Rolling Dialogue, Eye-Popping Special Effects

'Pompeii' Review: Eye-Rolling Dialogue, Eye-Popping Special Effe
'Pompeii' will not break Shakespearean records or win the Oscar for best script. Considering I spent the film's first half rolling my eyes at its terrible, hackneyed dialogue, I will wholeheartedly admit the amazing special effects saved it from Razzie nominations.

'Pompeii,' directed/produced by Paul W.S. Anderson ('Resident Evil'), surrounds the burgeoning gladiator friendship between Celtic horse Warrior Milo, Kit Harrington ('Game of Thrones'), and African warrior Atticus, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje ('Thor 2', 'Oz'). The subplot incorporates Kit's growing attraction to Cassia (Emily Brow...

5 Reasons Arrow's Olicity Ain't Happening

5 Reasons Arrow's Olicity Ain't Happening
Dear Olicity-shippers everywhere, 'Arrow''s Oliver-Felicity match-up ain't happening. Give it up, especially after last week's episode, "Heir to the Demon," which buried Olicity hopes far underground. Although I ship for Olicity major league, after watching Felicity sink into the background since Sara's return, I've finally given up the ghost. It's pretty clear Ollie will push Felicity aside every time a hot new love interest appears. Why? Because Ollie's a major slut who only cares about himself and his feelings at the moment.

Why do I ship for Olicity? Because Felicity's the show's best ...

'Pompeii' Stars Kit Harrington And Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje Hit Philadelphia

'Pompeii' Stars Kit Harrington And Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje Hit
Last Monday, I attended the screening and red carpet interviews of 'Pompeii' stars Kit Harington ('Game of Thrones') and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje ('Thor 2', 'Oz') at Philadelphia's Franklin Institute. 'Pompeii,' directed by Paul W. S. Anderson ('Resident Evil'), stars Carrie-Anne Moss ('Matrix'), Kiefer Sutherland ('24') and Emily Browning ('Lemony Sknickett'). The primary plot surrounds two Gladiators who duel it out for freedom, love and friendship while toiling beneath the shadows of a tremulous Mt. Vesuvius.

I feel Adewale's return to the area is kismet. I was supposed to interview him...

'Sleepy Hollow' Closed With A Bang

January 22nd, 2014 7:18am EST
Sleepy Hollow
This week's season finale ended with a major boom and a great big bang. After two weeks of boring baby episodes and then one awesome business as usual show, we finally arrive at the two-part, two-hour season ender. While I wish we had more episodes to tease out the mythology, 'Sleepy Hollow' definitely grew into one of my favorite shows this year. As showrunners, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, stated, they successfully maintained the Halloween all the time every time theme. And, post-pilot, the show's momentum definitely matured. SPOILER ALERT!

This week, in "Indispensable Man" and "Bad B...

David Giuntoli Talks 'Grimm' Mid-Season Finale

December 11th, 2013 3:30pm EST
Grimm
'Grimm's third season is killing it. In addition to building on the Grimm mythology where Nick gains enhanced capabilities, this season fosters a familial feeling by creating an eclectic Scooby gang of Wesen (fairytale creatures), humans, cops and non-cops. In our conference call, star David Giuntoli talked about the upcoming mid-season finale this Friday and dropped hints about the season's second half.

NBC’s ‘Grimm’ surrounds Portland cop Nick who discovers he’s descended from a line of supernatural hunters and the book of Grimm's Fairytales actually describes the creatures his family hu...

'Sleepy Hollow' Throws A Middling Thanksgiving Episode

November 26th, 2013 9:35am EST
Sleepy Hollow
This wasn't the best of episodes. Considering Ichabod's Colonial roots I expected either an awesome Thanksgiving show or an hour-long rant from Ichabod about the inaccuracies of America's contemporary Thanskgiving celebrations. Instead, we received a watered down Charlie Brown episode interspersed with the creature of the week. 'Sleepy Hollow' is at its strongest when it doesn't appeal to viewer's affections. By forcing inorganic connections, this week felt more saccharine-sweet meets 80s after school special.

This week, in "Sanctuary," an evil witch tree kidnaps a socialite philanthropist...

Will You Watch 'Person Of Interest' Again?

November 25th, 2013 9:16pm EST
Person of Interest
Last week 'Person of Interest' killed off my favorite character of all time. Below find the top ten reasons I won't watch 'Person of Interest' again:

1. No Carter

2. No Carter

3. No Carter

4. No Carter

5. No Carter

6. No Carter

7. No Carter

8. No Carter

9. No Carter

10. No Carter

All the same, it is tempting to watch Reese's major hotness go batsh*t crazy over Carter's absence and see Root rock double barred guns.

While I probably won't return to the loving folds of 'Person of Interest' rabid fandom, will you?

If you do, check out previews here for Tuesday's episode http://www....

Did 'Person Of Interest' Kill Carter?

November 20th, 2013 8:36am EST
POI
What the Hell did I just watch? Did 'Person of Interest' KILL Carter, the very soul of its show? I knew something might happen this week. Between the foreshadowing commercials, the darker feel for this week's episode, logic of who might leave, and the consummation of the hopes of Careese fans everywhere, I knew someone might die and that someone might be Carter. This week, in episode nine, "The Crossing," Carter and John capture the head of HR. They're pigeon-holed in a basement morgue by HR dirty cops while on the other side of town, Fusco is captured by HR grunts, tortured and threatened ...

Taraji P. Henson And 'Person Of Interest' Cast Give Insight On Season 3

November 20th, 2013 2:54am EST
'Person Of Interest' Cast
The 'POI' cast appeared more subdued when I interviewed them at NYCC this year, contrasted with last year. There were hints in their interactions with each other and their responses to questions which hinted at a coming change. While last year, Taraji P. Henson and Kevin Chapman hopped onto the red carpet and traveled between tables like two Mardi Gras revelers, this year they appeared quieter. Although I can guess why, I still appreciated sitting down with the stars of my favorite TV show.

I've enjoyed Taraji P. Henson's portrayal since day one. I loved when CBS increased her interaction ...
