Just in Time for the Fall TV Season, TiVo Launches New Four Tuner DVR
Summer shows, for the most part, are winding down, and the fall season is almost upon us. That’s why you’re probably going to want to make sure you’ve got a way to record all the new goodness coming at you: Revolution, Last Resort and so much more.
TiVo announced last week the launch of their newest DVR, the TiVo Premiere 4. It has four tuners inside, which means you can record four shows at once, while viewing a fifth, already recorded program. It can record up to 75 hours of HD content.
You cannot use the TiVo Premiere 4 if you’re still using analog cable or over the air antennas. You can use it, however if you receive your TV through digital cable (QAM only) or Verizon FiOS. There is CableCARD™ support, so instead of having a giant cable box, you need to only get a small card to plug into the back of your TiVo to get all your favorite channels. And you only need one multi-stream card to record on four different channels via the tuners—previously, you would have needed four.
The TiVo Premiere also has great app support on the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. You can control your TiVo through the free apps, as well as view, schedule and manage recordings. (Or even look up an actor’s career.)
The TiVo Premiere 4 is available now at www.tivo.com and will be hitting retailers soon. It retails for $249.99 and has a monthly service fee of $14.99 with a one year commitment.
