Anticipation is incredibly high for The Dark Knight Rises, opening July 20. Possibly more than anything else, fans are hoping the trilogy ends strongly and brings some sense of closure to the Dark Knight story that director Christopher Nolan has been telling.

Ending a trilogy can be difficult—just ask moviegoers unhappy with The Godfather 3. Many studios don’t even want the third movie in a trilogy to be the final word anymore, which means we’ve gotten a lackluster Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Terminator: Salvation and more.

But here’s five trilogies that did finish out strong with their third movie—note one does have a fourth movie planned, but it’s a launch of a new trilogy so it gets to stay in the list.
