'Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes' Review: Brilliant, Breathtaking And The Best Of The Franchise

July 13th, 2014 4:16am EDT
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
Rarely is a sequel better than the original. Of course, there are exceptions, such as 'Godfather 2' and now 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.'

This film is absolutely fantastic on every level, starting with Andy Serkis as Caesar, the soulful, emotional, kind and fair ape that we met in 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' which starred, James Franco.

Right off the bat, I have to say that Serkis is amazing. He gives such a beautiful, nuanced performance that we, as an audience, are able to feel everything that Caesar feels and thinks. The film, shot in 3D, is brilliantly directed by Matt Reeve...

Most Beloved Stoner Characters Of All Time
Since escapism is the real reason why people go and see films in the first place, why not delve into the world of true escapism through the cloudy eyes of film's greatest stoners? In the middle of a heavily character-driven movie, the stoner provides comic relief. Unless of course he is the lead character, whereas you just might fall down laughing from their poor choices and continual misdeeds. Some of these films are based around the character's love of their drug of choice; others are driven by an accidental meet up with the wrong person. Nonetheless, stoner comedies are always good for ...

Christian Bale Gets Biblical In First Trailer For 'Exodus: Gods
Christian Bale and Ridley Scott are teaming up for Exodus: Gods and Kings, which just got a first trailer that proves it aims to beat out Noah as the best Biblical epic this year.

In typical Ridley Scott fashion, the period piece will feature giant battles and sweeping sets, as seen in the first seconds of a trailer when two armies charge and a cloaked figure looks over a populated ravine at night. Joel Edgerton's Ramses snarls to Bale's Moses, "You say you didn't cause all this, you say this is not all your fault – so let's just see who is more effective at killing: you or me."
