At last month's San Diego Comic Con it came as a surprise that one of the biggest superhero movies to be released next year was more or less absent. However, at this weekend's Disney’s D23 Expo at the Anaheim Convention Center a preview was displayed showing what will be in store for 'The Avengers.'

Kevin Feige, the head of Marvel Studios, took to the stage to highlight footage of the previous Marvel films, anticipating for the unveiling of the new clip and he confessed that there was only two weeks left of filming.

Some of the A-list cast were present at the panel, including Robert Downey Jr., Cobie Smulders, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner. They received an uproar of applause once the clip finished.

'The Avengers' will see Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Hemsworth), Iron Man (Downey Jr.), The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Hawkeye (Renner), Black Widow (Johansson) and Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) all team up when an unexpected enemy threatens to cause chaos to the world.

However, the director Joss Whedon admitted that it might be a while until the preview is broadcast to the public.

'The Avengers' hits cinemas on May 4, 2012.
