With guitarist Stuart Adamson gone to form Big Country, there's nobody to hold singer Richard Jobson's doleful outlook in check. Do not be misled by the title. "And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda" is a great song by folkie Eric Bogle that sums up the mood of shell-shocked Aussie war amputees being welcomed home. The group folded after this gloomy conclusion to what was once a most vibrant band. Mark Allan, All Music Guide
