Biography:
The Bloomfields were an alias for Maurice Gibb and his then brother-in-law Billy Lawrie (brother of Lulu). During the 1969-1970 split between the three Gibb brothers -- which temporarily broke up the Bee Gees -- Maurice worked on a number of solo projects, almost all of which were abandoned when the brothers reunited. Gibb and Lawrie's recording of &"The Loner" did surface, however, credited to "the Bloomfields" on the soundtrack of a movie entitled Bloomfield. Given the quality of their singing, one does wish that the duo had recorded and released more material than the one song, which surfaced in 2004 on the Castle Records compilation CD Maybe Someone Is Digging Underground: Songs of the Bee Gees.
