Spooky Tooth
Cross Purpose
Release Date: 1999 02 23
Running Time: 42:36
Label: A&M Records

Cross Purpose marks the reunion of the original Spooky Tooth lineup sans Gary Wright, which means that singer Mike Harrison, guitarist Luther Grosvenor, bassist Greg Ridley, and drummer Mike Kellie are all present. The band's sound is pretty much the same as it was during their first go-round, which is exactly what most listeners will be looking for, although it's perhaps a little cleaner and more polished. The material, on the other hand, is not quite up to the level of the group's best, although much of it is at least passably decent. In short, while most of the public at large will pass on Cross Purpose, it's entertaining enough for devoted fans of the group, which is all it really needs to be. Steve Huey, All Music Guide
