Garden, the second release from this Western New York band, combines the emotional vocals of Leah Pinnavaia with the full-on confident grooves of drums, keyboards, bass and carefully plied guitar to deliver a collection of eclectic songs with powerful pop underpinnings. While most of the arrangements are gentle and dreamy, (as in the delicate melodies of "Bell on the Wall" and the equally smooth "Elijah"), Muse conversely delivers energetic disco-styled numbers ("One Dog, One Bone" and the aptly titled "Dis-Co") to round out their innovative sound. At once lyrically defiant and beseeching, Garden's intricate melodies and explosive presentation make this an album worthy of repeated play and deep consideration.
