This is Cortijo's first stereophonic recording and the new technology works to good advantage, as the band's energy and performance are better captured. By this time the band's brass section was further enhanced with the addition of a second trumpet player (Mario Alvarez Cora), which makes the overall band sound wider and better; this was a welcome fine-tuning of the band's simple but effective style. Their hits include: their version of the pop hit "Volare" tuned into a swinging guaracha; "Oriza," another warhorse with Antillian flavor; and "¿Que le Pasó?" and "Madame Calalúm," which continue their use of Puerto Rico's native music.
