Hope Rising
Release Date: 2009 10 06
Label: Sony Music Distribution

Steve Fee and crew continue to build momentum on their second worship project, without yet breaking through to full stardom. Their arena-style worship rock is more than just another Passion-influenced product; it is the best parts of Revive, Bluetree, SONICFLOOd, Jeremy Camp, and Kings of Leon. The band has refined its musicality, adding intricate details under the production of Jason Hoard. The album title, Hope Rising, like many of the songs, is transparent in its meaning. The band makes no question about its desire to be a positive influence. And they hit at their best in moments like the pensive "Arms That Hold the Universe," which was written as a tribute to the congregation in Maryville, IL, following a deadly church shooting in March 2009. Throughout the disc, the band's songcraft seems to be on point; the only thing that keeps this album from being even more memorable is the lack of a distinct lyrical depth. With that said, Hope Rising is a thoroughly enjoyable worship experience, as is to be expected from Fee's seasoned namesake. Jared Johnson, All Music Guide
