Elusion
Think About It
Release Date: 1998 04 07
Running Time: 44:51
Label: RCA Records

Elusion is a fairly clever American urban variation on the successful Spice Girls formula. Instead of finding five girls with different, distinct personalities (or at least personalities that fit specific stereotypes), Elusion consists of two separate sets of identical twins -- hence, the "illusion" alluded to in Elusion. That doesn't necessarily give them a personality, but it does give them an identity, and that counts in the frequently faceless world of dance-pop and urban R&B. It would have helped if the music on the record was strong, of course, but that's not the case. Certainly, much of it is pleasant filler in the vein of SWV, En Vogue, and the Spices, but only a few of the songs really catch hold. But that's more than most of their contemporaries, and that alone makes Think About It a successful debut of sorts. Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
