Danielle Howle
Do a Two Sable
Release Date: 1997 10 21
Label: Daemon Records

On 1997's Do a Two Sable, Danielle Howle continued to flourish with her scorching style of folk-rock. The album gets off to a jovial start with "She Has a Part." On the second track, she offers an updated version of "Feel So Bad," which originally was featured as "Feel So Bad for You" on 1996's About to Burst album. The summery and chipper "You Came a Knockin'" is a toe-tapper, complete with soulful harmonica by Howle. The harmonica has more of a bluesy sound to it on the laid-back ballad "Anything Can Get Into My Heart." She croons of heartache like Johnny Cash on "If You Wanna Leave." After the epic "Dusty," the album comes to a close with the Southern rocker "Big Front Porch." Overall, her backup band, the Tantrums, are more prominently featured on the disc, adding more of a rock sound to the otherwise subdued folksinger. The album was recorded at Jam Room Studios in June 1997. Stephen Cramer, All Music Guide
