People & Places
Release Date: 1995 04 25
Label: Compass

One hears more of Elvis Costello and Richard Thompson's influence on this release. Still the songs are strong and the production crisp with enough unusual dynamics to keep you listening. His literate lyrics are short domestic stories told in a generally straightforward way ("Mary's Divorce" or "My Eyes Gave the Game Away"). The Ralph McTell comparison still stands, and it's meant as a compliment. Richard Meyer, All Music Guide
