Buffy Sainte-Marie
Coincidence & Likely Stories
Release Date: 1992
Label: Chrysalis

Native American activist and singer/songwriter Buffy Sainte-Marie makes an incredible comeback on this recording after 16 years away from the studio. Busting all myths about dippy folkies, Sainte-Marie takes on the still-hot topic of Indian oppression while exploring sonic ground that is completely unexpected: programmed keyboards with Laurie Anderson-style voice-over ("The Priests of the Golden Bull"). The entire work is a hard-hitting condemnation of corporate greed and dirty politics, masked in new-agey sounds -- about as subversive as it gets. Denise Sullivan, All Music Guide
