Biography:
A Russian composer of symphonies, ballet (Raymonda, 1897), orchestral, and chamber music. The end of Symphony no. 4 and the beginning of Symphony no. 5 are genuine emotional experiences, as is the lovely Concerto for Violin && Orchestra in a (1904), but despite having tremendous popularity in his day, much of Glazunov's music now sounds formulistic. He is perhaps best seen as a late Russian romantic in the tradition of Glinka and early Tchaikovsky. Blue Gene Tyranny, All Music Guide
