The California Mail Review: "Pleasant" is probably the best word to describe California Mail, or indeed any of Dick Foran's music westerns. Pleasant and perhaps a little dull. Warner Bros. used quite a bit of stock footage from their earlier Ken Maynard and John Wayne oaters but the problem was mainly Foran's light opera voice, which would be fine in a Rudolph Friml operetta but seems out of place in this more prosaic setting.
