Striking Poses Review: In what must be the most straight-faced in-joke perpetrated onscreen since Imitation of Life, Gail Harvey's minor but entertaining thriller casts Shannen Doherty as the victim of a stalker. The good news is that she gives a credible performance -- much better than the genre demands, in fact -- and there are enough clever twists and turns in Michael Stokes' script to make it worthwhile. Striking Poses is a perfectly adequate mid-range thriller with no sex and minimal violence, and while there's nothing to specifically recommend it (other than a few more twists than in most recent thrillers), there aren't any glaring negatives either (other than maybe a few twists too many). Only devoted Doherty fans will want to add this to their home collections, but it's involving enough to kill some time if there's nothing better to do. Robert Firsching, All Movie Guide |
